DGS Distinguished Lecturer Program by Dr. Mohammed Al Duhailan March 9-18

Dr. Mohammed Al Duhailan from Saudi Aramco has given a very interesting lecture titled “The Curious Case of Petroleum-Expulsion Fractures in Organic-Rich Shales: Genesis and Impact on Unconventional Pervasive Petroleum Systems” to
students and faculty members of the local universities. Between the 9th and 18th of March of 2015, Dr. Al Duhailan visited King Saud University, king Abdulaziz University, Taibah University and King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals where he gave his lecture which was attended by tens of undergraduate and postgraduate students and faculty members. The DGS has
received an excellent feedback after the tour and were asked to continue its support to the local academia by organizing visits, lectures and activities.

Dr. Al Duhailan is a Petroleum Geoscientist at Saudi Aramco. He was awarded his PhD in Petroleum Geology in 2014 from Colorado School of Mines, USA. Mohammed has been with Saudi Aramco since 2001. His work roles have been spent exclusively
in the area of oil and gas exploration, generating play concepts and prospects, and following up with proposals to drill wells for exploration. Also, He has been and is currently focusing on promoting the unconventional resource play concept. Mohammed’s recent research has been focused on theorizing petroleum-expulsion fracturing in organic-rich shales. His research area of interest is aimed at developing a comprehensive understanding of unconventional petroleum resources through data integration to be able to investigate the natural factors controlling their existence in the subsurface.

The DGS would like to thank Dr. Al Duhailan for his efforts and outstanding work and would like to encourage
